State Of Decay 3: Game Trailer Remix

This project came about through university; where a module demanded the creation of sound for visual media. This specific game trailer was chosen because of its potential scope for ambiance, hard effects, foley, and soundtrack work. The project began from the ground up, with no sound and just visuals. Several techniques were implemented during the creation of the piece to demonstrate my abilities as best as possible.

Foley was a definite focus of the piece using this technique to create several core elements such as the heartbeat, breathing, clothes rustling, and footsteps. The Neumann KM184 microphone was implemented thanks mainly to its appropriate polar pattern and relatively flat frequency response. Furthermore, Field recording was used to capture elements such as the flowing water. The recording was captured in A-format Ambisonics and mixed to 5.1 for maximum immersion. Wind noises were also captured in this way but were later layered with elements synthesized from PureData to add more depth and body. Finally, synthesis was used to create the soundtrack, which took inspiration from Guðnadóttir's Chernobyl soundtrack for the HBO original series.

The work acheived a Mid 1st with praise from the module leader
